This is the role for you if you are pro-active and skilled in fiscal operational practices and administering payroll functionality within a national organisation. We are particularly looking for someone who has experience in payroll products, in particular, Employment Hero.

About the Role
Working in a small team, you must be prepared to deliver and assist with all the operational tasks and functions associated with fiscal management of the Union whilst juggling general administrative tasks and working to support the broader financial operations of the AMWU.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining the Union’s financial systems
- Administering payroll functionalities
- Managing accounts and processing invoices
- Overseeing data entry of State Branches, as required
- Preparing reports and documents covering financial transactions for review
- Maintaining accurate records according to standard practices and audit requirements.
- Working as a team player within the finance department to deliver on the Union’s fiscal objectives and requirements
- Developing proposals to improve financial practices for Executive consideration, as required
- Supporting State finance departments with accounting and payroll applications and/or modules
- Communicating updates and compliance requirements
- Assisting in State audit procedures to obtain strict compliance with legislative requirements.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- A commitment to the values of the Australian trade labour movement
- Maintain good internal working relationship with other staff members and provide support when needed
- Experience utilising finance and accounting software and/or modules, in particular Employment Hero
- Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel
- Outstanding analytical and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise deadlines and proactively identify issues to be rectified
- Ability to process records accurately with a strong attention to detail
- Demonstrate business acumen and “can-do” attitude
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
Desirable
- A commitment to the values of the Australian trade labour movement
- Tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics (CPA/CA desirable, but not essential)
- Experience with SunSystems and payroll products, in particular Employment Hero
- Experience within a Union organisation, not-for-profit, or a commitment to the trade union movement
- Experience working within a small team.
