<h3><strong>WHO WE ARE </strong></h3>
<p>ANASINA GRAY-BARBERIO is the new Victorian Greens member of the State Parliament&rsquo;s Legislative Council, representing the Northern Metropolitan region (replacing Samantha Ratnam).</p>
<p>Anasina is a proud Pasefika woman, who is a passionate advocate for diverse communities in the northern suburbs who are being hit particularly hard by the housing, cost of living and climate crises.</p>
<p>Her new office team will support her in this mission!</p>
<p>Anasina is looking to build an enthusiastic, passionate, positive-minded and outcome-focussed electorate office team, that reflects the diversity of the Northern Metropolitan community it represents.</p>
<h3><strong>THE ROLE: PARLIAMENT AND POLICY ADVISOR</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Managing Anasina&rsquo;s parliamentary schedule and organising and preparing her daily activities in the chamber.</li>
<li>Researching and preparing briefings, including recommended positions, on government legislation, motions and budgets that are introduced into the parliament.</li>
<li>Drafting parliamentary speaking notes, questions, amendments, notices of motion, petitions and (potentially) private members&rsquo; bills.</li>
<li>Preparing briefing documents and summaries for government, opposition and crossbench MPs on Greens parliamentary business items.</li>
<li>Working with parliament officers to provide advice on parliamentary rules, conventions, and procedures to achieve parliamentary outcomes.</li>
<li>Building relationships with key external policy stakeholders in portfolio areas: understanding their key priorities, keeping them up to date on our work, and maintaining dialogue on key issues.</li>
<li>Proactively looking for opportunities to achieve progressive policy/parliamentary reform in Anasina&rsquo;s portfolio areas and for her community, including researching successful campaigns, legislation and tactics used in other Australian jurisdictions or internationally to achieve policy change.</li>
<li>Keeping on top of Victorian Government reporting and announcements in Anasina&rsquo;s portfolio areas, including building good working relationships with Government Ministers&rsquo; offices, and proactively seeking departmental briefings.</li>
<li>Working with Anasina&rsquo;s team to help communicate what Anasina does in Parliament to constituents and the broader public through both traditional and social media.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>EXPERIENCE</strong></h3>
<p>Ideally you may have a background working in, or qualifications relating to: politics, public administration, state/federal/local government, NGOs, or law.</p>
<p>However, we encourage you to apply even if you don&rsquo;t have all of the relevant skills.</p>

<h3><strong>SELECTION CRITERIA</strong></h3>
<ol>
<li>Values Alignment: A commitment to the Greens policies, charter and core values - ecological sustainability, grassroots participatory democracy, social justice and peace and non-violence - and a passion for our movement.</li>
<li>Outstanding analytical skills: An ability to gather and analyse information on complex policies and issues, identify key problems, questions, risks and opportunities, and prepare succinct summaries and logical recommendations for Greens MPs to consider and action.</li>
<li>Outstanding written communication skills: An ability to draft written materials succinctly, clearly and persuasively (usually for Anasina to deliver verbally) for different audiences and purposes, within parliament&rsquo;s restricted time (word) limits.</li>
<li>Organisation and time management: An ability to apply your outstanding analytical and written communication skills to produce outputs within extremely tight deadlines. You should be able to prioritise between competing tasks, to effectively manage your own parliamentary workload as well as Anasina&rsquo;s.</li>
<li>You are driven, flexible, enthusiastic and can work independently, while also loving contributing to, and supporting, a small, fast moving team.</li>
<li>You have an ability to liaise with a diverse range of people and establish and maintain positive relationships both internally and with external stakeholders. You should be passionate about social and political issues, always curious, and love learning new things from expert stakeholders.</li>
<li><strong>BONUS POINTS FOR:</strong></li>
<li>
<p>An ability to think outside the box, be creative, and pitch ideas such as new initiatives or strategies to achieve policy outcomes.</p>

</ol>
<h3><strong>TERMS &amp; SALARY</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>Part-time to full-time (by negotiation: if working full time some days will likely be paid at casual rates).</li>
<li>Grade 2.1 of Parliament of Victoria&rsquo;s electorate officer salary scale: $83,469 (pro rata) plus workload allowance of 4%, a capability payment $1170 (if meet annual criteria) and 11.5% superannuation. With previous experience as an electorate officer you may be eligible to be appointed at a higher level up to grade 2.8 $95,432 (pro-rata).</li>
<li>Working from home days and from the Brunswick electorate office, and the Victorian Parliament during sitting weeks.</li>
<li>Family-friendly hours are available, however some out-of-hours work will be required (workload allowance and toil provided).</li>
<li>Electorate Officers are employees of the Victorian Parliament, employed under the terms and conditions of the Parliament, while directly accountable to the Member in whose electorate they are employed.</li>
<li>Please note to accept this role you will be required to provide a Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Check (NPC) and participate in a 15-minute confirmation interview with the Department of Parliamentary Services.</li>
