We are looking for a Disability Inclusion Officer to join our Parish and Diocesan Partnerships team who can build relationships and work with stakeholders including parishes, Authorised Anglican Congregations (AACs) and our Disability Working Group including people with lived experience of disability.

The Anglican Diocese of Melbourne is a large and dynamic organisation comprising of over 200 parishes located throughout metropolitan Melbourne and extending to include the Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas.

The Role

The Disability Inclusion Officer is responsible for building the capacity of parishes and Authorised Anglican Congregations and for developing and implementing a Disability Action Plan (DAP) within the Diocese. The Disability Inclusion Officer will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop policies and resources in consultation with parishes and AACs, develop and conduct accessibility assessments and risk assessment templates, advocate for cultural change, offer advice, and promote engagement with people with disabilities across the Diocese.

As the Disability Inclusion Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • Building relationships with and providing support, guidance and advice to parishes and AACs in relation to disability inclusion.
  • With the Disability Working Group, develop a Disability Action Plan (DAP) program logic including monitoring and evaluation of the DAP across the Diocese.
  • Source or develop and deliver or oversee delivery of disability awareness training for diocesan staff, parishes and AACs.
  • Assist parishes and AACs to develop accessibility assessments and risk management plans for disability inclusion.
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with our parishes and AACs, the Disability Working Group and external stakeholders, including Government departments, disability services, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Anglicare Victoria.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary Qualification relevant to Disability, Social Work, Social or Behavioural Sciences or other relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading disability inclusion practice.
  • Experience in the areas of risk assessment and mitigation of risk.
  • A willingness to regularly travel across Melbourne and Geelong.
