The role - the difference you will make

As the Effectiveness and Learning Advisor, you will provide essential guidance on effectiveness and learning within Anglican Overseas Aid’s International Programs team. Your role will involve leading the continuous improvement of the effectiveness and learning processes and systems for AOA’s international programs, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality assurance in our community development and humanitarian projects. 

This may include advising on key processes such as project design, monitoring, and evaluation, while also ensuring the implementation of cross-cutting issues like gender equality, disability inclusion, and environmental and child/adult safeguarding. You will contribute to enhancing program quality by promoting learning and applying proven best practices across the team and with AOA’s field-based partners. Additionally, you will support the development of partner capacity in areas such as climate justice, gender justice, and disability inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine, develop and implement appropriate project quality standards, and procedures to ensure effective and accountable program delivery.
  • Develop and implement international program effectiveness processes and systems.  
  • Design and develop monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and systems to drive best practices. 
  • Provide advice and support to the international programs team on key project cycle milestones such as design, monitoring, and evaluation of projects.
  • Provide capacity building and facilitate the delivery of technical training and expertise to the international programs team, and international partners to strengthen program quality and effectiveness.

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience, preferably within the international development sector.
  • Tertiary qualification in community development, international development, or similar.
  • Sympathetic to and aligned with AOA’s Christian faith-based values, origins, and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in effectiveness and learning within the international development sector and experience in facilitating the integration of effectiveness throughout the programming cycle.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across cultural and faith-based contexts.
  • Positive and flexible attitude, while taking the initiative in managing own workload, meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
  • Willing and able to undertake occasional travel within Australia and internationally.

  • Employment Status: Part-time (0.6 FTE)
