Anglicare Victoria

ABOUT Anglicare Victoria

Anglicare Victoria is committed to building a better future for children, young people, and families across the state. We work to break the cycle of disadvantage by providing support, care, and opportunities for vulnerable young people. Our Lead Tenant program offers a unique, supported housing model for young people aged 16-18 transitioning from the child protection system, helping them develop independent living skills in a safe and stable environment.

Being a Live-In Youth Mentor

Are you passionate about making a difference in a young person’s life?

As a Live-In Youth Mentor (Lead Tenant), you’ll live rent-free in a fully furnished home in Melbourne’s North/Northwest while providing positive role modelling and support to young people learning to live independently.

This is a unique opportunity to create a welcoming, stable home environment where young people can thrive. You won’t act as a carer or guardian, but rather as a supportive housemate, guiding them with everyday life skills, encouragement, and mentorship.

With ongoing training and supervision, you’ll have the support you need to make a lasting impact while gaining valuable experience in youth work, social services, and community care.

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for compassionate, responsible, and reliable volunteers who:

  • Have a genuine desire to support young people transitioning into independence
  • Are over 21 years of age
  • Can commit to at least 12 months in the role
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are open to living in a shared home environment
  • Hold (or are willing to obtain) a Working with Children Check and Police Check

If you have experience in youth work, social work, psychology, education, or community services, that's a bonus - but a big heart and a willingness to be a positive influence are what matter most.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS

  • Rent-free accommodation in a fully furnished home
  • Monthly honorarium of $180
  • Comprehensive training, supervision, and support
  • Valuable experience in mentoring and youth work
  • The opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life

If you're ready to step into a meaningful volunteer role and help shape a brighter future for young people, we'd love to hear from you!
