Make a move

You will work as a Youth Alcohol and Drugs Counsellor that provides family inclusive therapeutic treatment. The positions objectives are:

  • Reduce young people’s problematic alcohol and other drug use and associated harms.
  • Improve family engagement in young peoples’ treatment of alcohol problems.
  • Improve health and well-being outcomes for young people with substance use issues and their families by improving treatment engagement, retention and family functioning.
  • Improve the management of relapse through improved support for young people.
  • Work within a harm minimisation frame work.
  • Respond appropriately to co-morbidity of substance problems and mental health problems.

How will you make your mark?

  • Clinical experience and an understanding of theory that underpins drug and alcohol treatment.
  • Understanding of the stages of change.
  • In depth knowledge of addiction.
  • Family Work.
  • Counselling skills which include the ability to use CBT. 

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling and specifically a minimum of a Cert IV in AOD or Post Graduate Certificate in AOD, including Dual Diagnosis competencies or a minimum 2 years in the AOD sector.

  • Salary starts at $106,387 plus super plus salary packaging (Level 6 SCHCADS) Full time equivalent
  • Office location: Frankston
  • Part time 3 days per week, 22.8 hours, please pro rata the above salary.
