About the Industrial Officer role

As part of our Industrial Officer team, you will lead a team of Industrial Organisers each responsible for numerous workplaces across the full spectrum of the health and aged care sectors to support our growing membership.

The role also includes application of technical and strategic expertise, to undertake activities including representation of the Branch and/or members before various tribunals including FWC, Enterprise Bargaining, provision of advice to staff and members and leading/participating in campaigns.

Each team also has access to ANMF professional and occupational health and safety experts, along with dedicated administrative support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Represent the industrial and professional interests of members including preparing matters for conciliation and arbitration before the Fair Work Commission or other applicable tribunals.
  2. Lead and inspire a group of Organisers
  3. Provide strategic industrial advice and assistance to Branch management, staff and members
  4. Work collaboratively with branch staff to protect and improve members’ employment conditions through the provision of high-quality advocacy and collective campaigns.
  5. Improve members’ working conditions by leading and negotiating Enterprise Bargaining.

  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • successfully leading a team.
    • advocating for improved member working conditions.
    • using all avenues for dispute resolution
    • negotiating enterprise agreements and
    • preparing for and presenting matters in various forums including the Fair Work Commission.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to achieve a common interest.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the Trade Union movement.

The remuneration package includes:

  • Annual salary of $149,155 per year plus 16.5% Super
  • 5 weeks of annual leave
  • Additional Easter Tuesday public holiday with capacity to substitute alternative public holidays
  • Paid close down between Christmas and New Year
  • Generous employment conditions including ADO and flexi days
  • Provision of a fully maintained hybrid vehicle as part of package
  • Provision of branch owned mobile phone
