Summary of Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant and/or Senior Consultant with a background in ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering and/or natural resource management and sustainability in the land sector, to join our team. The position is not location specific, however, we do prefer to be based in one of our state offices in either: Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and/or Brisbane. We allow for flexible work arrangements and the position title and remuneration will be based on level of experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Nature team under Australian and international abatement programs, including:
    • Due diligence assessments and carbon offsetting advisory and project development
    • Co-benefit identification and evaluation under relevant standards/frameworks;
  • Support the ACCU Scheme audit assurance engagements for land-based projects, including savanna fire management, Human-induced regeneration, Environmental planting and soil carbon projects;
  • Undertake field work and analysis to assist ACCU Scheme advisory and audit projects;
  • Undertake GIS analysis as well as risk and opportunity assessments to support ERF advisory and audit projects;
  • Support the preparation of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounts, trajectories, and net zero emissions pathways, to support the land-based GHG inventory component and science-based emission reduction targets in the Forestry, Land use and Agriculture sector (SBTi-FLAG).
  • Support the preparation of nature risk assessments under the Taskforce for Nature related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) as well as Nature Strategies under relevant guidelines.

Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise

  • A relevant environmental engineering, ecology or environmental science degree:
    • Post graduate studies in the fields of ecology, spatial science (GIS), climate change and/or sustainability is desirable.
  • Previous experience and/or demonstrated use of GIS spatial mapping tools and software (QGIS, ArcGIS), and data science (Python or equivalent) is required.
  • Previous experience and/or demonstrated knowledge of the ACCU Scheme, especially experience with human-induced regeneration, environmental planting, soil carbon, plantation forestry and/or savanna fire management projects.
  • Previous experience in other environmental credit schemes is highly regarded.
  • Previous experience in interpreting and reviewing environmental policy and/or legislation is well regarded.
  • Significant experience in another land-based resource sector (e.g mining, water)
  • Strong data analysis, statistics and interpretation skills, including advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team, including client engagement.
  • Eagerness to learn, grow, and challenge yourself.
  • Australian residency or work visa.
  • Ability to travel for work.
