The ANU Students’ Association or ‘ANUSA’ is the peak representative body for all ANU students. It provides a range of services aimed at providing support for the specific needs of students in relation to both their studies and daily life. ANUSA is run by students for students and represents students both collectively and individually.
The Association’s staff, supervised by the Operations Manager, are a dedicated team that works closely with the elected officers of ANUSA to provide high-quality service to ANU students.
Administration & Information Handling
1. Maintain high standards of ethics, confidentiality, empathy with students, and a culture of continuous improvement.
2. Provide high-quality administrative support including daily monitoring of the inbox and responding to non-complex queries and conducting face-to-face meetings with student clients.
3. Information gathering and preliminary assessment of emergency grant applications against set criteria.
4. Refer students with complex needs to ANUSA’s Student Assistance Advisors, where necessary.
5. Maintain up-to-date records for the Student Assistance Team including data entry on the in-house database.
6. Maintain student records according to relevant ANUSA policies, collating data from student records, and preparing reports as required to assist in evaluating and improving service delivery.
Strategic:
7. Acquire and maintain knowledge of key stakeholders within the ANU and Canberra community health and welfare support services to inform recommended referral pathways and provide effective referrals to students.
8. Contribute to and support project management activities that implement strategic directions and quality improvement recommendations, and provide feedback for the ongoing development of policies and procedures.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ANUSA’s internal programs, policies and procedures.
Operational:
10. Compile data from the Student Assistance database and assist in analysing trends to help in the identification of new programs to benefit the student community.
11. Administer ANUSA Student Assistance Grants as directed.
12. Undertake other duties as required by ANUSA, consistent with the level of the position and the work of ANUSA.

1. Tertiary education with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
2. Demonstrated experience in assessing applications against a regulatory framework.
3. Demonstrated understanding of the issues university students face, and ability to work from a person-centred and empathetic approach.
4. Demonstrated ability to work within a dynamic team of professional staff and students.
5. Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills including excellent attention to detail.
12. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people, including those from other cultural and language backgrounds.
13. Have appropriate qualifications and experience in dealing with people in crisis, or be willing to attain relevant qualifications.
14. Eligibility to hold an ACT Working With Vulnerable People Card.
Employment will be under the STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS OF THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2019 (ANUSA Enterprise Agreement). The rights and obligations of this position are set out in the above Enterprise Agreement.
Type of Employment: Full-time (35 hours per week).
Employment Status: $80,113 p.a. + 17% superannuation (ANUSA Enterprise Agreement ANUO Level 5.1).
Contract duration: One year with the possibility of extension.
Responsible to: ANUSA Operations Manager.
