The Business Development Manager works in partnership with the leadership team to deliver our business development strategy. You will be responsible for identifying and building business opportunities that align with APNA’s vision for a healthy Australia through best practice primary health care nursing and enable the sustainable growth of the Health Care Solutions business unit.

Responsibilities
- Develop a robust business strategy in conjunction with senior leadership and lead implementation of the strategy.
- Develop systems and processes for identification, tracking, monitoring and reporting against new business opportunities.
- Develop and implement a method for responding to new business opportunities that provides a competitive advantage, including the development of assets.
- Work proactively to identify and create new business opportunities for APNA. This may be in the form of new products and services, opportunities to collaborate with partners to create industry solutions and/or request for tenders/proposals.
- Secure new business opportunities prioritised in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Produce high quality proposal and tender submissions.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders on behalf of APNA, utilising an account ownership model with priority stakeholders.
- Proactively pitch APNA expertise and programs to external stakeholders.
- Regularly report on the business development pipeline to the leadership team.
- Identify emerging risks through an industry forces framework, escalate perceived risks and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.
- Support annual budget planning.
- Provide succinct, formal written contributions for APNA’s reports within given timeframes.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Strong experience in business development, identifying and securing strategic opportunities
- Commercial acumen
- Experience developing tender responses for grants (federal and/or state health)
- Proven excellent oral and written communication, collaboration and negotiation
- Strong report and submission writing skills
- Proven understanding of budgetary requirements
- Sound knowledge of the Australian primary health care sector
- Undergraduate or postgraduate education in business, marketing, health administration or another relevant discipline
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable qualifications and experience:
- Contextual understanding of primary health care nursing
- Team management
- Previous experience with a health peak body.
