About APNA

The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) is the peak body and professional membership association for the 98,000+ nurses working outside of a hospital setting in Australia. APNA provides education, representation, advocacy, and support services for primary health care nurses across Australia.

About the role

This three-day-a-week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) Digital Engagement and Communications Officer role sits within the Membership, Marketing and Engagement Team, part of the wider Nurse Engagement and Professional Development department. The Digital Engagement and Communications Officer is responsible for building and disseminating much of the Membership, Marketing and Engagement team’s external communications, particularly via EDM and various social media channels. They focus on increasing member engagement through their content and strategies, and analyse our activities to provide insights to inform continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing, writing and editing communications materials, including regular emails, website content and social media content
  • Building EDMs and our weekly newsletter, including content segmented to specific audiences
  • Creating basic artwork and sourcing imagery
  • Disseminating and promoting content through appropriate social media channels, and maintenance of online communities
  • Tracking analytics and creating reports assessing the effectiveness of communications activities
  • Development and delivery of campaigns to support member engagement
  • Relationship development with external organisations to boost APNA's profile
  • Ensuring that all communications and marketing materials align with brand standards
  • Technical coordination, support and presentation of webinars.

You must have:

  • Previous experience in communications, particularly in EDM building and social media management
  • Writing expertise to a high standard and ability to adapt your tone to APNA's style
  • Design skills and strong digital know-how
  • Analytical skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • A constant improvement mindset
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to support the team with other tasks, as required, including answering members' phone calls
  • Knowledge of medical terms and the health industry is a plus.
