About the role
This full-time hybrid or remote Nurse Education Support Officer role sits within APNA's Health Care Solutions department, working to produce world-class nursing educational content delivered virtually and face-to-face.
They ensure education is kept up to date, contains best practice teaching and is promoted to ensure high utilisation by primary health care nurses. The Nurse Education Support Officer helps ensure our education sessions are evidence-based and best practice for contemporary primary health care nurses.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop and deliver education programs that build capability of primary health care nurses, and provide mentorship and guidance to participants fostering a culture of continuous quality learning and improvement.
- Ensure education adheres to best practices for educational design and delivery, including identification of appropriate learning and development curricula and outcomes, and taking into consideration the concept of recognition of prior learning.
- Assist with the development, refinement and implementation of APNA’s career and education strategy, framework and plans.
- Utilise own nursing skills and knowledge to contribute to the content planning, development and delivery of education and resources relevant to nurses working in primary health care in a variety of delivery modalities including online learning.
- Engage with existing and prospective industry stakeholders, government departments and regulators (including AHPRA and NMBA) around key issues and facilitate involvement or inclusion of content in APNA education programs.
- Advocate on key issues impacting nurses in primary health care and engage with government departments, presenting as a credible and professional representative of primary health care nurses.
- Model organisational values and codes of conduct with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential qualifications, skills, education, and experience:
- Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualification in nursing
- Current Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- Experience in education course design and delivery
- Proven excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills
- Proven success in negotiating and building external partnerships
- Proven content/resource development, presentation, consultation & facilitation skills with the ability to work independently when required.
- An ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and maintain a strong customer service focus
Desirable skills, education, or attributes– summary elements:
- Experience in learning management systems and technology platforms such as Articulate 360, Storyline 360 or Rise 360, or willingness to learn these programs
- Understanding of budgetary requirements
- Contextual understanding of the work and issues in a primary health care setting
- Other undergraduate or postgraduate education in education development, program management, business or another relevant discipline would be highly regarded.
