Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Pro Vice Chancellor (Indigenous) is the University’s executive leader and significant influencer and enabler of University activity and initiatives in Indigenous education, community engagement, research and innovation. This is an exciting role providing the appointee with the opportunity to make a major strategic and operational contribution University-wide.
Griffith University has the largest Indigenous Australian student population of any Queensland university, and one the largest numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff in Australia. As such, this new and senior position reflects the University’s commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and the promotion of reconciliation, respect, education and engagement.
As a key member of the University’s Executive leadership, the Pro Vice Chancellor leads, collaborates and works with colleagues across the University in successfully enabling all aspects of the University’s Indigenous portfolio in the achievement of strategies. This includes working closely with the Council of Elders and leadership of GUMURRII Student Support Unit, the Indigenous Research Unit (IRU) and the Office of Indigenous Community Engagement, Policy and Partnerships (ICEPP).
In addition, the Pro Vice Chancellor (Indigenous) will contribute to broader issues of university strategy and planning at a leadership level and will have Deputy Head responsibilities for the Logan Campus.
