The School of Education and Professional Studies is a national leader in educational research and innovative teaching programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School spans three campuses - Mount Gravatt, Logan and Gold Coast - and has an international reputation in teacher education and related research, with students being drawn to our programs from many different countries.
The Autism Centre of Excellence (ACE) is located within the school and provides quality teaching, research and consultancy in autism. The centre has a multi-disciplinary focus engaging with many disciplines including education, psychology, speech pathology and medicine. The research program is informed by a strengths-based respectful approach focused on building capacity and recognising and developing the many abilities of people with autism and their potential to contribute to society.
We are seeking a Research Fellow to work with us on an exciting new project with focuses upon identifying and addressing the research priorities of the autism community. Using a range of research methodologies, including eye-tracking and observations as well as direct assessments, interviews and questionnaires, the Research Fellow will develop a series of research projects which are driven by community priorities and deliver results to the community. Success in this role will therefore require knowledge and experience in working with individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, and skills to work in a team and to collaborate with the autism community. The successful applicant will join our successful team of researchers and receive supervision and mentoring from the academics in our team.
This is a fixed term (15 months), full time position based at the Logan campus.
To be successful within this role, you will have evidence of a passion for applied autism research through either through a Masters by Research or a PhD. You will demonstrate a strong desire to both undertake research in autism and share your research findings with the communication. Experience in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology (e.g. cognitive assessments, eye tracking) or educational settings will be an advantage. The ideal candidate will have the demonstrated ability to publish in leading international publications and work both independently and as part of a team to meet competing deadlines.
Research Fellow Grade 1: $73,791 - $86,579 per annum (Minimum level for PhD graduate is $83,510 per annum)
