The School of Allied Health Sciences at Griffith University is one of the largest and fastest growing Schools in the Health Group. It is known for innovation and excellence in health education, research and clinical practice and has a focus on addressing many of the health challenges facing society today and into the future. The School offers academic programs across all levels of Exercise and Sport, Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling and Speech Pathology. Staff members actively engage in these areas of research and are supported by the Menzies Health Institute Queensland. The School of Allied Health Sciences houses the Allied Health Clinics, which provide dietetics, exercise physiology, physiotherapy and speech pathology clinical services to the public, as well as opportunities for student work integrated learning.

Speech Pathology is a relatively new Discipline within the School, commencing in 2012. Together with its emerging strength in research, the Discipline offers a highly regarded entry-level Master of Speech Pathology, which is offered on both the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses. Work integrated experiences are an integral part of this degree, and the Allied Health Clinic is well positioned to provide a variety of these experiences to Griffith students.

The Speech Pathology Clinic is part of the multi-disciplinary Allied Health Clinic. This position involves 3 days a week of private practice caseload in the Clinic. The incumbent will work closely with the Clinic Director, clinical and administrative staff. There is the possibility that the position could contribute to student supervision in the speech student clinic if the applicant was suitably qualified and interested.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a speech pathologist to be responsible for providing clinical services within the Allied Health Clinic at the Gold Coast Campus. The primary focus of this role is to provide assessment and treatment to speech pathology clients. They will also participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of new and innovative clinical services which may have an inter-professional focus. Success in this role also requires effective collaboration with the other clinicians, students, researchers in the Health Clinics, academic staff members and external agencies. This role includes professional development activities, and mentorship provided by an experienced speech pathologist and academic staff member of Griffith University.

This is a 1 year fixed-term, part time (60%) position based at the Gold Coast campus. Griffith is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as required.

About You

To be successful within this role you will need to be able to provide evidence of the ability to develop networks and industry partnerships particularly with respect to building a client caseload. You will have evidence of a passion for patient care with a strong desire to build a career within the Speech Clinic. In addition you will support the evidence-based, outcome-informed, and accountable environment by monitoring and evaluating client outcomes. You will have highly developed organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collegially both independently and as part of clinical teams.

Salary Range

Speech Pathologist: $65,894 - $76,530 (pro rate) per annum. Salary is depending on level of experience.
