The role:

The Aboriginal Engagement Officer will be responsible for engaging and building relationships within the community, ensuring increased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement with HelpingMinds services. The Aboriginal Engagement Officer will work with Head of Service, Team Lead and Family Support team to ensure HelpingMinds services are culturally appropriate.

This position will require some outreach work to Fitzroy Crossing, Derby and local community groups in the area which may include overnight stays. Mileage may be reimbursed through the organisations mileage process.

What will you need to succeed:

The successful candidate will have strong experience engaging and working with young people and families, including the ability to engage with Aboriginal people in remote and rural communities.

The key to your success will be your excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the skillset to develop collaborative partnerships.

With a relevant qualification in the area of Aboriginal Health, Community Services or Mental Health, you will pride yourself on being self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously while continuing to work towards team goals.

What you’ll receive in return:

In addition to joining a professional and dynamic team, you will receive support from an experienced Team Lead and Manager. This includes supervision individually once a month with your Clinical Lead and Group Supervision once a month with your peers.

You will receive remote and district allowances as well as salary packaging benefits. On top of standard leave entitlements, you will receive an additional week’s leave after 12 months of service, plus 2 Wellness Days per year to support your own mental health.
