The Role

Reporting to the Board, the ALEC CEO is responsible for the development of the organisation aligned with the strategic plan. This includes overall coordination of all ALEC activities and programs, representation of ALEC in the public sphere, to government and the media, to members and volunteers. The ALEC CEO is also responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day management of ALEC, management of staff, financial and office administration management.

Priorities for the role include:

• The CEO provides leadership to ensure the delivery of the Strategic Plan endorsed by the Board. This includes managing the financial, material and human resources required to undertake the successful delivery of the ALEC Strategic Plan objectives. The CEO manages budgets and cashflow, manages the staff, and drives the development of government, corporate and funder relationships.
• The CEO oversees the organisation and receives direct reports from relevant staff members. The CEO fosters collaboration and teamwork between staff and assists managers with the tasks required to deliver the strategic plan objectives.
• The CEO holds key external relationships with government, collaborative groups, funders and agencies, sponsors, partners, media, suppliers and our community.

The Person

The new CEO will be an experienced and proven leader and manager, who is passionate about the sustainability and protection of Australia’s arid lands and people. Their background may be in government and/or environmental organisations. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully leading culturally inclusive and collaborative organisations and teams. Experience developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures. The new CEO will also have strong advocacy, organisational and project management skills and experience in the not-for-profit sector and with regulatory compliance and Work Health & Safety obligations.
