The Association for Services to Torture and Trauma Survivors Incorporated (ASeTTS) is seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified and experienced individuals to join our Board as the next Board Chair.

Following a long and successful tenure, our current Board Chair is approaching the end of her term, and we are now searching for a capable successor. If you are looking to join a committed team making a powerful difference in the lives of survivors of torture and other forms of trauma, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

The Chair of the ASeTTS Board plays a critical leadership role in ensuring effective governance, strategic direction, and oversight of the organisation. Our ideal candidate:

  • Has prior experience serving on Boards (experience as a Board Chair is highly desirable)
  • Brings expertise in areas aligned with organisational needs, such as governance, organisational change, finance, information technology, or cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrates values-based leadership
  • Is willing to commit the time required to effectively manage Board responsibilities, attend meetings, and support the Chief Executive Office
  • Possesses a solid understanding of not-for-profit governance, funding, risk management, and compliance
  • Is willing to become a member of the association.

You will receive coaching and support from the current Board Chair, helping you become familiar with the organisation, its leadership, and the dynamics of the Board.

Important information: ASeTTS’ constitution requires Board Directors and Office Holders to be appointed by its members. The successful candidate will officially assume the position of Board Chair upon formal election at the next Annual General Meeting.
