We have a great opportunity for someone to join our amazing Employment Services team at ASC. This Employment Services Coordinator role will focus on the ASESS program, providing support to people seeking asylum in this program, helping them to develop suitable career paths and providing them with the tools to gain sustainable and skilled employment.

This is a part-time position (3 days per week), based in Newtown on a fixed term contract of up to 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Case manage a number of clients, collaborating to develop Job Search Plans and achieve employment goals using a person-centred, strengths-based approach
  • Supervise the volunteer-run Employment Hub on a rostered basis, ensuring great client experience and high quality service delivery
  • Offer feedback to clients and volunteers to improve job search
  • Help identify opportunities for clients, including suitable opportunities on the ASC Jobs Board, and plan next steps
  • Market and successfully link candidates with a wide range of local employers and businesses
  • Help individuals to access and connect with information about establishing their own business
  • Identify relevant employment and training opportunities
  • Guide volunteers in their delivery of post-placement support for clients and employers
  • Ensure Partner Employers adhere to employment standards.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

Essential:

  • Experience in recruitment, training, human resources, or business development
  • Ability to motivate, support and inspire volunteers and people seeking asylum
  • Ability to listen to, engage with, support, and learn from people with complex needs
  • A strong understanding of the issues affecting people seeking asylum
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, written and oral skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively to solve problems as part of a team
  • An energetic, positive attitude and and a commitment to learning and improvement
  • Experience communicating with and gaining support from external stakeholders
  • A commitment to ‘leadership at every level’, generating ideas and taking ownership
  • Enthusiasm for and facilitation skills to run engaging group and individual trainings
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
  • Ability to adapt effectively to change

Desirable:

  • Lived experience as a refugee or person seeking asylum
  • Knowledge of different professional industries, including the education sector
  • Knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility and/or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Experience working with people seeking asylum, refugees and/or migrant communities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, human resources, psychology, social work, or humanitarian areas
