As Team Leader, you will be based across the Darwin and Palmerston areas and provide leadership to a dedicated team of practitioners, Aboriginal Community Workers and allied staff in the delivery of integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services including child protection, family support, out of home care, domestic and family violence, and housing. This involves undertaking statutory responsibilities and exercising delegated responsibilities under the Care and Protection of Children Act, the Youth Justice Act guided by the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Security Framework and practice frameworks; and exercising responsibilities under the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, Financial Management Act, Emergency Management Act and other NT Government and Department policies and procedures.

To be successful, you are required to hold an Australian tertiary qualification which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Community Workers Association or the Australian Psychological Society or equivalent. A strong understanding of the principles and functions of coaching staff in the delivery of statutory and non-statutory welfare services, highly developed professional skills in conducting strength bases assessments, developing and delivering effective interventions and applying best practice principles. In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner.
