As a frontline Team Leader (P3) in Alice Springs (or Mparntwe in the Arrernte language) you form part of a dedicated team of leaders that both supervises and guides a team of professional staff in the delivery of integrated statutory and non-statutory welfare services to vulnerable children, families, groups, and communities in accord with relevant legislation, and Department of Children and Families policies and procedures. Depending upon your professional experience your duties may include assessing individual, family, and community issues, applying appropriate methods of intervention, delivering case work and case management services, undertaking statutory responsibilities and exercising delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act.
To be successful, you require a tertiary qualification which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Community Workers Association or the Australian Psychological Society or equivalent tertiary qualifications. A strong understanding of the principles and functions of delivering statutory and non-statutory welfare services and demonstrated ability to provide supportive, educative, and administrative supervision of welfare staff is essential. Extensive experience commensurate with the duties of the position, including highly developed professional skills in conducting strength-based assessments, developing, and delivering effective interventions, and a demonstrated capacity to apply best practice principles. In addition, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family, and community structures, with the ability to communicate and work in a culturally safe manner.
