Territory Families, Housing and Communities (THFC) takes a whole-of-life approach to addressing the vulnerabilities in our society through providing support services to create positive change for children, families, communities and seniors across the Northern Territory. Our Housing and Communities division is responsible for the design and development of key housing programs and initiatives specifically targeted to deliver significant impact across the Northern Territory.

Tenancy Contract Officers (TCO’s) are responsible for delivering direct tenancy management services, support and guidance to Remote Public Housing clients according to the Remote Public Housing Management framework and the Residential Tenancies Act.

To support the large number of projects operating across the Territory a surge workforce of TCO’s is being recruited to provide quality services and support to public housing tenants in remote communities, resolve tenancy issues and provide education and support to tenants regarding healthy living and maintaining long term tenancies.

Located in Darwin, you will undertake regular travel to remote communities to provide leadership, direction and mentoring to place-based Tenancy Support Service Contractors to ensure the timely delivery of culturally safe, professional tenancy management services to tenants. Apply your knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and Housing Act to establish and manage lease agreements, coordinate rent collection and payment arrangements, assist in addressing anti-social behaviour and conduct inspections of remote public and government employee housing.

To meet the challenges of this role it is essential you are capable and willing to work regular and extended periods in remote communities, hold or are eligible to obtain a Northern Territory C class driver’s licence and be physically capable to drive 4x4 vehicles. High-level written and verbal communication skills, experience in preparing briefs and reports, and the ability to communicate sensitively and persuasively with Aboriginal clients and community stakeholders is essential. In addition you will need demonstrated experience working in remote locations delivering services to Aboriginal people and be capable of understanding the requirements of people with high and complex needs in remote communities.
