Outline & Purpose of Role:
Australia for UNHCR (A4U) is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises. Established in 2000, A4U has raised over $400m from individual donors, philanthropists and corporates, leading to direct impact on the ground delivering emergency support such as shelter, protection, clean water, food and medicines. Australia for UNHCR also directly funds international projects that support longer-term care such as building schools, running livelihood programs and providing healthcare.
We are looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented team-player, with strong analytical, problem solving and organisational skills, keen attention to detail, adaptability and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, to join our Donor Care team. This role is responsible for supporting the Direct Marketing framework in achieving the organisation’s fundraising goals by processing incoming data into the donor database, supporting the Database Manager in database administration, and assisting with technical aspects of project work undertaken by Donor Care.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Database Manager, the Donor Database Administrator is responsible for:
- Data imports, including developing and implementing new data import profiles, updating existing processes to accommodate new data capture requirements, troubleshooting issues with existing profiles and user exceptions, and helping develop data processing templates in MS Excel to combine data from different sources, automate data clean-up and save import files.
- Record management, performing data cleansing procedures, and maintaining and developing data integrity checks.
- Queries and exports, including developing and implementing new query and export solutions, and building and maintaining dashboards within the CRM as needed.
- Helping troubleshoot issues with receipt and acknowledgement letters in the CRM and other Word merges.
- Managing CRM database configuration requests.
- Acting as first level escalation point for CRM database queries and troubleshooting, including investigating and resolving issues and documenting where appropriate, or escalating to the relevant support team or supplier/third party.
- Proactively finding opportunities to improve and streamline database team processes and taking the initiative to put in place new solutions or make refinements.
- Working with other teams on cross-department projects and acting as a subject matter expert in relation to the CRM and database team processes.
The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:
Essential
- Proven experience working with a relational database, ideally Raiser’s Edge or a similar platform, with understanding of: anatomy of CRM record types, database schemas, create queries and exports.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly in MS Excel. e.g. comfortable writing formulas; experience using a range of functions; comfortable using filters, conditional formatting and data validation; some familiarity with macros.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise a variety of tasks to meet competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with others across an organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly become familiar with new software or systems, including through self-directed learning.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Database Administrator.
- Experience in programming.
