Outline & Purpose of Role:

Australia for UNHCR is an international aid agency that raises funds from the private sector to support the humanitarian operations of the UN Refugee Agency. Established in 2000 as part of a global fundraising network, it has now raised over $400 million from a broad network of individuals, community and corporate partners.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our high-performing Philanthropy and Partnerships team as our new Philanthropy Assistant. The successful applicant will be exposed to all areas of philanthropy whilst working within the international refugee space, working closely with the team to provide administrative support across all areas of the portfolio – Major Donors, Middle Donors, Corporates, Trust and Foundations, Bequests and Events. In return, you will benefit from the personal and professional development gained through playing a crucial role in the growth of this diverse organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and efficient processing of receipts and correspondence for donors
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for production of end-to-end direct marketing campaigns and track performance
  • Build digital assets and support the team with presentations
  • Prepare internal briefing documents as needed
  • Ensure accurate data recording and updating within the organisation’s CRM
  • Undertake administrative and research tasks in relation to philanthropy and fundraising campaigns and the philanthropic landscape
  • Support the team on key projects, events and achieving fundraising targets

The successful application will possess the following attributes:

Essential

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail 
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including all MS Office products
  • Experience working with a CRM database
  • Sympathetic to the refugee cause

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications/fundraising or relevant subject area
  • Previous employment in the NFP sector and/or previous fundraising experience.
