The Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF) is a highly regarded reputable national children's charity aiming to prevent child abuse and reduce the harm it causes to children, families, and the community. It provides specialist trauma counselling and therapeutic care programs to children and young people affected by abuse, as well as running research, education, and community capacity building programs.
ACF also provides a range of programs and services that seeks to build the capacity of the child welfare, out of home care, education, health, and justice systems to better understand and meet their needs, including training, research, knowledge translation and safeguarding children within organisational contexts.About the role:The National Executive Manager - Therapeutic Services position is a newly created position that reflects the importance of integration of the Therapeutic Services programs nationally and within the context of the Australian Childhood Foundation as a whole. It will join a high functioning executive team that is responsible for the strategy and performance of the work of the Foundation.

The National Executive Manager will lead a team of General Managers across the country. This role will aim to ensure that all national Therapeutic Services programs maintain high-quality performance reflective of best practices in therapeutic services and out of home care. The National Executive Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of General Managers, driving the implementation of an enhanced practice framework based on evidence-based approaches to trauma, attachment, relational theories, and child development. This role will also involve fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, supporting Managers to lead their teams through change processes, and maintaining high-level partnerships with other Community Services Organisations and Government entities at a state / territory and commonwealth level.

A key focus of this role will be to evaluate the current Therapeutic Services and Out of Home Care programs, leading to service improvements that enhance service-user experience and satisfaction, improved outcomes and operational effectiveness, and achieve strategic objectives. This will be achieved by implementing strong governance frameworks to manage these services. The National Executive Manager will be responsible for leading program growth, transformation, and sustainability.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for membership in the relevant professional association.
  • Substantial previous experience in a similar Executive level role.
  • Capacity to lead and initiate organisational change.
  • Extensive background in working with children and young people who have experienced trauma.
  • Extensive experience in program development, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated experience in submission writing, grant seeking, and project management.
  • Advanced leadership abilities in managing a diverse team of Senior Leaders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept in navigating sensitive and complex issues with expertise in conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and effective relationships and partnerships both internally and externally with agencies and stakeholders.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain effective connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract management and negotiation.
  • Previous experience in budget management.
  • Strong analytical skills in interpreting data and using this to make informed decisions.
  • Adaptability and responsiveness in a dynamic work environment.
  • A current driver's license, National Criminal History Check, and Working with Children Check.
  • Personal values consistent with the Foundation.
