The Australian Childhood Foundation (The Foundation) will play an important role in the ACT Government's groundbreaking Out of Home Care (OOHC) reform, a transformational initiative outlined in the Next Steps for Our Kids strategy. This reform is all about creating a more responsive, inclusive, and compassionate OOHC system, focused on critical priorities like providing stability for children in care, working closely with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO's), supporting early restoration, ensuring smooth transitions for young people leaving care, strengthening cultural connections, and building a flexible, needs-driven service system.

About the Role

As a Senior Manager of the Australian Childhood Foundation's therapeutic programs in the ACT, you will play a central role in implementing, overseeing and managing our service delivery across a range of programs. Your extensive responsibilities will include program development, staff management, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality therapeutic care and support to children and young people, their carers and families. You will work within our Therapeutic Services program to ensure that the children and young people receive healing therapeutic care in line with ACF's unique therapeutic care practice model.

This dynamic and rewarding role presents a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people. You will not only advance the quality of care provided but also actively contribute to shaping a brighter future for the children and young people we support. You will join the Foundation's national senior therapeutic services leadership team and have an opportunity to influence and contribute to the Foundation's ground-breaking work to keep children and young people safe and heal from the impacts of trauma.

It is important to note that this role also includes managing an after-hours on-call component, reflecting the 24/7 nature of the care we provide. The after-hours component will be shared between senior staff on a rotating roster.

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification such as Social Work or Psychology,
  • Significant leadership Experience in the community services sector in areas such as child protection, youth services etc.
  • Extensive experience in program development, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and mentor a team using contemporary leadership and management approaches.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including demonstrated capacity to negotiate sensitive and complex issues with specific expertise in conflict resolution.
  • Sound understanding of trauma transformative practice.
  • A flexible collaborative approach, building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills, fostering both independent and collaborative work within a team structure.
  • Current driver's licence and Working with Vulnerable People check or equivalent.
