We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Ethics team. This person will be responsible for undertaking ethical research and analysing internal and external data used in our ethical research process. This role is a key component of Australian Ethical’s investment process and supports Australian Ethical’s advocacy for more sustainable business practices.

Your responsibilities and what you’ll be doing:

  • Research ethical including ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues affecting companies and industries as part of our investment process and to support our engagement and advocacy for better management of the social and environmental effects of business
  • Manage and analyse internal and external sources of information, data and analysis used in our ethical assessment process
  • Research and analyse the impacts of our investment portfolios on people, animals and the environment
  • Prepare communications and reports about our ethical investing and impact

What we’re looking for in the ideal candidate:

  • Minimum two years relevant work experience e.g. investment management, business analyst, corporate social responsibility, sustainability
  • Relevant degree, including finance, economics, statistics, business, philosophy, social sciences
  • Strong logical and numerical analytical skills including attention to detail, integrity and curiosity and the ability to navigate shades of grey and to efficiently extract key information from large volumes of information
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate written and numerical analysis accurately and concisely to a range of audiences
  • Proficiency in MS excel and word and the ability to input, extract and manipulate data from databases
