Do you have a passion for leading groups and mentoring autistic youth?
At Autism Adventures, we specialise in supporting autistic youth (ages 14 to mid 20s) to build meaningful relationships, and to reach their full potential through fun and engaging social groups and community-based day and overnight Adventures. Our participants may have complex needs, including mental health challenges. We are dedicated to providing a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
Our social groups run weekly throughout the year, including during school holidays. They cater to autistic individuals who are seeking opportunities to meet and make new friends, and to have fun! We provide an environment that is safe, supportive and conducive to building confidence in social situations.
The Social Group Leader is responsible for facilitating social groups for young people with autism in accordance with the organisational model of service delivery. This is a rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in a young person’s life by supporting them to build friendships, develop their self-esteem, reduce social isolation, and expand their social and communication skills.
The right candidate will have experience and confidence in facilitating and leading youth groups, including providing a safe environment for active participation in group discussions. You will be fun and outgoing and have demonstrated experience in motivating, empowering and nurturing youth.
You are a positive role model and may provide general advice in different areas, such as social and communication skills development, healthy relationships, resolving conflicts, and help devise strategies for overcoming any difficulties. You will have proactive ideas to promote engagement within social group sessions.
You are required to work at a location close to Caboolture on Wednesday nights.
