About autism adventures

At Autism Adventures, we specialise in supporting autistic youth (ages 14 to mid 20s) to build meaningful relationships, and to reach their full potential through fun and engaging social groups and community-based day and overnight Adventures. Our participants may have complex needs, including mental health challenges, but we are dedicated to providing a supportive environment where they can thrive.

what you'll do

As a Support Worker, you'll facilitate social groups and lead day and overnight Adventures. No two days are the same! One day you might explore a museum, the next you could be kayaking, horse riding, or saving the world from zombies in a virtual reality gaming room.

Your role will be to:

  • Lead weekly social groups and facilitate discussions, focussing on positive engagement and conversational skills.
  • Plan, and participate in, day and overnight Adventures, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
  • Build trusting relationships with participants and their families.
  • Be a positive role model and mentor, encouraging young people to engage socially and develop their self-esteem.

This role requires you to be physically fit, be hands on, and to explore new experiences with our participants. You will have a strong focus on genuinely enjoy sharing your passion for adventure with others.

  • Adventure: Ready to try new experiences and share your love for adventure.
  • Flexibility: Flexible approach to support. Able to work outside of office hours, including Wednesday nights and weekends.
  • Fitness: Physically fit and ready to participate in various activities.
  • Communication: Strong skills in building positive relationships with participants and their families.
  • Qualifications: Minimum Certificate III in Youth Work or Disability Services (desirable).
  • Requirements: Valid full driver's license, NDIS Worker Screening Check, QLD Blue Card, and completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
