We’re looking for a Behavioural Change and Communication Specialist who can volunteer in a hybrid role both remotely (online) and in-country for a total of 12 months.
The National AIDS Council of Papua New Guinea (NAC-PNG) is a key government body responsible for coordinating and managing the country’s response to HIV/AIDS. Established under the National AIDS Council Act of 1997, its primary mandate is to lead efforts in preventing the spread of HIV, reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS, and improving access to treatment and support services for affected individuals.
NAC-PNG works closely with government agencies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), international partners, and communities to develop policies, conduct awareness campaigns, and implement prevention and care programs. Its focus extends to promoting safe practices, reducing stigma and discrimination, and ensuring that people living with HIV/AIDS receive comprehensive care and support. The Council plays a vital role in achieving the broader health and social development goals of Papua New Guinea.
The National AIDS Council Secretariat (NACS) requires support in reviewing and updating the Behaviour Change Communication Guideline 2009, a critical document guiding communication and advocacy efforts for STI and HIV prevention in Papua New Guinea. The revised guideline will serve as a cornerstone for implementing key strategies outlined in the forthcoming National Sexual Health Strategy (NSHS) 2024–2028 Implementation Plan, ensuring alignment with national health priorities.
Given its pivotal role in driving effective communication and advocacy at a national scale, as well as supporting other key interventions over the next four years, this document's timely revision is essential. To achieve this, NACS seeks external expertise to facilitate the review process, ensuring a comprehensive and practical guideline is developed to meet the country's evolving needs in the fight against STI and HIV.
