We’re looking for a Business Development Mentor who can live and volunteer for 8 months in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) is a key research organisation in Papua New Guinea, established in 1996. Its primary focus is to enhance agricultural productivity, sustainability, and resilience. NARI conducts research on crop and livestock production, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation. It develops and disseminates agricultural technologies to improve food security and livelihoods, particularly for rural communities.
The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) plays a central role in improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in Papua New Guinea. As NARI strives to implement its 5-Year Strategic Implementation Plan, the need for a clear and actionable business plan has become critical to ensure the effective execution of its goals, secure sustainable funding, and enhance operational efficiency. A comprehensive business plan will not only outline NARI's strategic objectives but also provide a roadmap for financial sustainability and growth.
Currently, NARI's development and research initiatives rely on a combination of government funding, international donor contributions, and project-based partnerships. However, to ensure long-term sustainability and the achievement of its strategic vision, NARI needs to diversify its revenue streams, improve operational efficiency, and align its resources with its strategic priorities. A well-developed business plan will help the institute meet these challenges.
The Australian Volunteers Program is an Australian government-funded initiative. We support partner organisations across the Pacific, Asia, and Africa to achieve locally led change.
