We’re looking for a Capacity Building and Disability Policy Mentor who can live and volunteer in Sri Lanka for a total of 10 months.

This assignment seeks to provide expertise in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and CRPD-aligned advocacy to support the update of Sri Lanka’s National Disability Policy.

  • To be considered for this role, you’ll need a degree in social policy, international development, disability studies, nonprofit management, or a related field. Familiarity with global disability rights frameworks and practices, particularly in diverse cultural and socio-political contexts, would be a preference.
  • You will be working alongside government officials
  • As a volunteer, you will support fundraising efforts by identifying funding opportunities, assisting with grant writing, and enhancing financial sustainability strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of the National Disability Policy by providing expert inputs and recommendations.
  • Provide support in capacity-building training for DOJF and its member organisations on leadership, governance, advocacy, and strategic planning.

About the Partner Organisation

The Disability Organizations Joint Front (DOJF), based in Colombo, is an umbrella organisation representing 35-member organisations of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) across Sri Lanka, advocating for their rights and fostering an inclusive society. Holding special consultative status with the Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations, DOJF works to strengthen PWD organisations through policy advocacy, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement. The organisation requires a volunteer to provide expertise in policy analysis and CRPD-aligned advocacy to support the update of Sri Lanka’s National Disability Policy. Additionally, the volunteer will contribute to capacity-building training, strategic planning, and fundraising efforts to enhance DOJF’s financial sustainability.
