We’re looking for a Human Resources Information System Development Mentor who can live and volunteer for 8 months in Lae, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea.
The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) is a key research organisation in Papua New Guinea, established in 1996. Its primary focus is to enhance agricultural productivity, sustainability, and resilience. NARI conducts research on crop and livestock production, natural resource management, and climate change adaptation. It develops and disseminates agricultural technologies to improve food security and livelihoods, particularly for rural communities.
The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) plays a pivotal role in the development of Papua New Guinea’s agricultural sector, with a focus on improving productivity, sustainability, and resilience through research and innovation. To meet its growing operational demands and align with its 5-Year Strategic Implementation Plan, NARI is seeking to enhance its internal capacity, particularly in the area of human resources (HR) management. A key component of this is the development of a robust and systematic Human Resources Information System (HRIS) that can support efficient HR functions and ensure streamlined management of human capital.
NARI’s current HR processes are largely manual, leading to inefficiencies in managing employee data, recruitment, performance evaluations, training and development, and overall workforce planning. As NARI embarks on its strategic plan, it aims to build a high-performing, skilled, and motivated workforce that can support the institute’s research goals and operational excellence.
The Australian Volunteers Program is an Australian government-funded initiative. We support partner organisations across the Pacific, Asia, and Africa to achieve locally led change.
