About the role

We’re looking for someone with a passion for climate justice and an eye for detail to be our next Individual Giving Officer! You will roll out strategies to grow AYCC’s supporter base and generate income from small one-off donations — to help resource our powerful youth movement for climate justice. You’ll use your skills in storytelling to write persuasive digital communications that inspire people to donate to support our movement. You’ll work with our campaigners to share stories demonstrating impact to retain supporters and then work with our recurring giving team to help convert them to monthly donors. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance and identifying innovation to improve results. Day to day, this looks like crafting supporter emails, rolling out online advertising and list-building campaigns, designing processes for effective data tagging and management, and evaluating our performance.

About AYCC

The AYCC is a non-profit, non-partisan organisation building a movement of young people leading solutions to the climate crisis. We are Australia’s largest youth-led organisation and one of the most effective organisations dedicated to tackling climate change, with hundreds volunteers nationally and more than 200,000 supporters. Our major program areas are:

  • Campaigns to solve the climate crisis: We run bold campaigns to make sure Australia moves from fossil fuels to renewable energy as quickly as possible. We are currently focussed on holding back fossil fuel expansion through campaigns to stop the funding, social licence, and political support for climate-wrecking gas projects.
  • Training & movement building: AYCC’s power comes from community organising and a network of grassroots action groups across the continent. Our movement is radically inclusive, equitable and accessible, and prides itself on its diversity and scale. We empower volunteers to take on meaningful leadership and responsibility while supporting each other to learn and grow. Each year hundreds of young people participate in our online, in-school and in-person training programs to build their skills and confidence to take action on climate change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver multi-channel fundraising campaigns, including email, web, social media and/or text messages that motivate people to donate to support AYCC’s work. This work includes: writing persuasive digital communications (emails and email journeys, web pages, digital ads and social media content), using the NationBuilder database and Raisely platform to set up web pages for fundraising appeals and creating email lists.
  • Plan and implement digital acquisition campaigns to build our supporter base. This work includes: setting and monitoring ads, writing copy, and writing email journeys.
  • Evaluate and track engagement and fundraising performance and make suggestions to improve results. This work includes: collecting and analysing data, writing evaluation reports, researching new ideas, conducting tests.
  • Help grow our monthly donor program, by assisting the recurring giving team and writing persuasive emails that motivate supporters to make a monthly donation. This work includes: extracting call lists for telefundraising, copywriting and working with the recurring giving team.
  • Implement an integrated retention strategy for all supporters and donors. This work includes: preparing content to thank supporters, working with the campaign team to share impact stories and developing new retention activities.
  • Coordinate our tech stack to ensure a smooth supporter experience. This work includes: updating donation pages (including written content), identifying new ideas to improve results, coordinating the backend of our fundraising and advertising tools (including NationBuilder, Raisely, Zapier etc.) and troubleshooting new problems as they arise.
  • Contribute to priority fundraising projects as needed, including AYCC’s annual peer-to-peer fundraiser, community fundraising and any other duties as required to grow AYCC’s digital engagement and financial sustainability.
  • Assist with additional whole-organisation priorities as needed, such as fundraising projects, campaign events and actions in solidarity with First Nations movements.

Your time will be divided among the above areas over the course of the year, based on the priorities of AYCC and an agreed-upon work plan through discussion with the Fundraising Director.
