About the Position

Backtrack is looking for a motivated and driven Chief Operating Officer with a high-performance mindset who can provide organisation leadership and enable strategic transformation by developing and implementing the integrated frameworks and systems that will run our organisation to support our team and our ambition.

Based in Armidale, as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), you will be actively involved in executive decision-making and representational activities. You will work collaboratively to provide strategic leadership and drive a cohesive and high-performing organisation, while managing operational risk, regulatory compliance and organisational sustainability.

Enhancing operational alignment with the long-term goals of BackTrack you will be responsible for the overall management and delivery of operational governance and corporate support services, enabling Backtrack to continue to support young people. 

You will bring to the role a passion for continuous improvement and exemplary abilities to:

  • Support the CEO as part of the management team in the development and execution of strategic business plans;
  • Monitor and understand key metrics to deliver data driven insights on the effectiveness of organisational goals;
  • Collaborate with the management team to further enhance and implement operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and governance;
  • Work collaboratively to develop and/or improve systems, processes, controls and procedures provide excellent service to members;
  • Work with the Chief Financial Officer and executive team on the reporting of organisation performance in finance and other corporate function areas;
  • Play a critical role in driving and mentoring the divisional Managers in the business, to achieve consistent business performance across the core areas of responsibility;
  • Enable the delivery of BackTrack’s Reconciliation Action Plan;
  • Develop, review and manage business systems both IT and non-IT related systems; and
  • Participate proactively as part of the management team and contribute to communication with the Board.

About you

You will be a proven executive with a history of program delivery and business growth and development ideally from NFP or community services sector.

You will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with staff and key stakeholders particularly community, government and advocacy groups, whilst using your exceptional commercial acumen and financial literacy. 

You will also have proven capability in growing existing programs.

Based in Armidale NSW, BackTrack supports vulnerable young people who are having a hard time and are falling through the cracks of a mainstream system that doesn’t meet their complex needs. BackTrack helps young people develop work and life skills, engage in learning, prepare for employment and particular in their community. We achieve this though a combination of educational, training and diversionary activities, transitional employment though our social enterprise, residential accommodation and flexible wraparound youth work.
