Join Bagala Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) in leading the Barunga-Wugularr Law, Culture, and Justice Committee. This role drives community-led justice initiatives, strengthens local law systems, and empowers Traditional Owners and community members in the Big Rivers region.
About the Role
As part of BAC’s Executive Management Team, you will:
- Oversee the implementation of the Local Action Plan, aligning community priorities with justice reforms.
- Act as a key liaison between the Committee, legal bodies, and government agencies to ensure compliance with legal frameworks and cultural protocols.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to community leaders, fostering culturally informed justice solutions.
- Coordinate Committee meetings, project management, and stakeholder engagement across multiple communities.
- Advocate for equitable and sustainable justice outcomes that respect local law, tradition, and governance.
About You
You have a deep understanding of Local Laws, legislation, and governance within Indigenous communities.
Your skills include:
- Bachelor of Laws (minimum requirement)
- Two years post-admission experience, criminal law knowledge and application in the Northern Territory framework, and qualification in project management.
- Strong investigative abilities to support community-led justice initiatives.
- Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative justice practices.
- A proven ability to manage complex legal and social issues with sensitivity and integrity.
- Confidence in working independently, making sound decisions, and fostering sustainable outcomes.
- Must have a valid N.T.-C-Class Driver’s License.
