The Grampians Health and St John of God Hospital Ballarat Human Research Ethics Committee (GH SJOG HREC) is a committee of the Grampians Health and St John of God Hospital Boards of Management.

The committee considers all applications for research involving humans internal and external to the Ballarat community. All positions are filled in an honorary capacity (i.e. by volunteers).

There are vacancies (for a term of 3 years) for membership under the following National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2023 categories:

  • (Category D) a person who performs a pastoral care role in a community including, but not limited to, an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander elder or community leader, a chaplain or a minister of religion or other religious leader.
  • (Category F) a with current research experience that is relevant to research proposals to be considered at the meetings they attend [i.e. health and health-services research].
