The Community Engagement team currently has an opportunity for a Media and Communications Lead. This is an exciting role within the newly established team and we are looking for a well-rounded communications professional who is able to grow our communications activities.

You will be up for a challenge and have a broad skill set that will enable you to deliver activities that will further enhance the BHS brand.

These will include:

  • Liaising with senior BHS executives and external media organisations to facilitate media opportunities about BHS
  • Contributing to, producing or project managing a range of campaigns and publications across the organisation, among them our Annual Report, posters, brochures and newsletters
  • Developing, writing and designing eDMs
  • Creatively shaping content for different publications, print and online, by writing, editing and proofreading copy
  • Supporting a website redevelopment process and delivering campaigns through traditional and social media.

You will need to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills as you build a network of colleagues across the health service and community. You will also be able to demonstrate a history of marketing, journalism, public relations and communications excellence.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and an ability to plan and deliver communications in both a reactive and proactive way. Your Planning, organising and time management skills will be key as you juggle competing priorities and activities. Previous experience in a public sector, education, not for profit or health environment is desirable.

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualifications in a relevant field, such as Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or Copywriting would be highly regarded
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in such as Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or Copywriting
  • Solid experience in writing, editing and proofing a range of materials for a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated success in developing, implementing and monitoring marketing, communications and media campaigns that support the achievement of an organisation’s objectives
  • Experience with photography and video production for social media content is seen as highly desirable

Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated contemporary knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practice for effective communication via these channels
  • Demonstrated outstanding writing skills, with an understanding of how to apply consistent brand messaging to the content produced
  • Ability to handle complex and sensitive information and disseminate this information through a range of channels
