Banyule Youth Services team are looking to recruit two musically and technically skilled staff with a passion for working with young people and the community to join our youth services team based at Jets studio. Jets is a multi-functional creative youth facility in Bundoora operated by Banyule Youth Services, which hosts weekly youth programs alongside live music events and a range of other activities. This role can be different each shift - alternating between setting up studios, preparing equipment for events, assisting in studio recordings or operating PA systems, and facilitating programs and youth engagement in communities such as CALD, LGBTIQA+, and all ability programs.

About the role:

In this role, you will work with the Youth Team, under the leadership of the Jets Team Leader and Youth Services Coordinator to:

  • Assist Lead program facilitators to deliver youth-led programming.
  • Assist Technical Officers to prepare, set up, operate and pack down event gear.
  • Assist in the resetting of studio equipment and musical instruments.
  • Assist in supporting the development and upskilling of youth bands through studio recordings, mentoring, program support and event support.
  • Assist in planning, capturing and evaluating service delivery.
  • Facilitate and assist in the provision and delivery of all aspects of high-quality youth programs, activities and events for young people.
  • Flexible availability preferred – a minimum of two afternoons/evenings required per monthly roster with the ability to commit to regular shifts.

Please note: Casual basis—Shifts are booked at a minimum of 3 hours. Ideally, shifts are booked 2 weeks in advance; however, ad hoc shifts may be booked as required.

Skills, experience and certificates:

  • Tertiary qualifications in youth work, music, creative industries, sound engineering or related discipline or currently studying to obtain qualification and/or significant relevant experience.
  • Experience working with vulnerable young people in group settings.
  • Experience in creative industries, live music events, sound engineering etc.
  • Experience setting up backline and staging.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate is preferred (or willingness to obtain)

  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Working with Children’s check
  • Police check
