Your role

As a Chaplain, you will provide effective, person-centred, spiritual, and pastoral care to customers, their carers, staff, and volunteers. Your role will involve compassionate and attentive listening, assessing spiritual and pastoral needs, and delivering person-centred spiritual care initiatives.

The wonderful opportunity will also see you conduct worship services, staff devotions, funerals, and other rites of passage, participate in case management reviews, and contribute to care plans. Additionally, you will support and encourage BaptistCare staff and volunteers, document pastoral contacts, report activities, attend team meetings, and manage a team of Pastoral Care Volunteers.

About You

To be considered, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in chaplaincy/pastoral care or theological qualifications with a willingness to undertake chaplaincy/pastoral care specific training.
  • Demonstrated high level of Christian spiritual maturity with a pastoral heart.
  • Active involvement in and recommendation from a local Christian Church.
  • Chaplaincy or pastoral care experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to recognise and address the spiritual and pastoral needs of customers.
  • Commitment to self-nurture, self-care, and professional spiritual development.
  • Understanding of the spiritual and pastoral needs of those living with dementia, grief, long-term illness, mental health issues, or receiving palliative care.
  • A current WWCC or willingness to obtain one.
  • A current NDIS Worker Check or willingness to obtain one.
  • A genuine commitment to BaptistCare’s mission, purpose and values.
