ABOUT THE ROLE

Make a difference in this fulfilling Support Worker role by enabling the people we support to develop voice, choice, control & independence. Actively engage the people we support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence, and supporting them with their recovery journey.

Our current Casual and Part Time opportunities include day, overnight & weekend shifts across the Inner West &/or St George in our 24/7 Supported Independent Living residential program.

Female applicants only (requested by Participant) - immediate start.

Responsibilities:

  • Building the capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills of the people we support by assisting them with daily activities (e.g. domestic, health, social, community access)
  • Building rapport and managing challenging behaviours by following established plans
  • Providing support to attend regular meetings with case managers and health professionals
  • Writing accurate case notes and recording them using the online Bare Care's client management system
  • Enabling the social inclusion of Bare Care clients in the community
  • Maintaining infection control measures and adapting to evolving Covid-19 requirements.

ABOUT YOU

Essential Criteria

  • Enthusiastic about supporting people with psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disability and/or mental health needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A 'can do' attitude, adaptability, and a willingness to learn
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to follow a plan and creative thinking
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Right to work in Australia
  • A current driver's license and confidence driving in Sydney
  • Valid NDIS Check or willingness to obtain.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Your own smartphone/device to access our apps for managing work information (training will be provided)
  • Availability for different shifts across our 24/7 operating hours (e.g. nights, weekends, etc.)

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a residential care environment
  • Experience supporting people who have psychosocial disabilities
  • Relevant qualification or work experience in mental health or disability support
