About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the Barung Landcare Nursery in Landsborough. This role involves managing plant propagation, nursery infrastructure, supervising volunteers, and ensuring the efficient production of high-quality, locally endemic native plants for wholesale and retail clients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of local plants and forest types, experience working in horticulture or a related field, excellent organisational skills, commitment to the environment and a strong work ethic. This is a full time role, however there is some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the production of native plants, including seed collection, propagation and stock management.
  • Maintain high standards of plant health, hygiene, and pest management.
  • Oversee stock levels, inventory management, and nursery equipment maintenance.
  • Develop and implement propagation schedules to meet client needs and deadlines.
  • Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring tasks are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Liaise with wholesale and retail clients to fulfill orders and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ensure the nursery grounds and facilities are maintained to a safe and professional standard.
  • Keep accurate records of plant production, sales, and volunteer contributions.

About You

  • Proven experience in horticulture, native plant propagation, or nursery operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, particularly in a volunteer-based setting.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and native ecosystems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of pest and disease management in nurseries.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Relevant qualifications in horticulture, conservation, or land management (preferred).
