The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
This is a full time, fixed-term role until 30 June 2026. Our preferred location is Melbourne, however applications outside this jurisdiction are welcomed.
The Senior Policy Officer supports the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and its Committees in their regulatory role, policy and standards development by researching and developing registration standards, professional codes, standards, guidelines and policy which meet the National Board’s requirements, and undertaking appropriate internal and external stakeholder consultation as required.
A key focus of the role is to support the coordination of work being completed to review registration pathways for international medical graduates (IMGs). That includes the development of registration pathways, registration standards, guidelines, and relevant explanatory material and engage in consultations with key stakeholders as part of a review to streamline pathways and processes.
