Disability Support Worker - Residential

Bayley House is a well-established and reputable NDIS provider of a broad range of support services for adults with an intellectual disability. We support adults with an intellectual disability and other disabilities with complex support needs to develop and maintain skills and independence to actively achieve their goals. Bayley House offer a diverse range of learning opportunities from our day services, community activities and short and long-term accommodation. 

The Role:

We are currently looking for Part-Time staff for our Residential Services which include In Home Support, Residential Housing and Short-Term Accommodation. 

Shifts will comprise of morning, afternoon, and sleepover shifts from Monday to Friday. There will be opportunities for additional hours from time to time. 

Specific hours include:

  • Monday 2.30pm-10pm and 7am-10am 
  • Tuesday 7am-10am 
  • Wednesday 7am-10am or 1pm 
  • Thursday 2.30pm-10pm
  • Friday 7am-10am or 11am 

You will support residents to be involved in all aspects of daily living, including accessing a range of community services. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Actively supporting clients to achieve their goals 
  • Daily communications to assist with goal monitoring eg. Journal notes  
  • Assisting with Personal Care work,
  • Administering Medication
  • Mealtime Management and preparation
  • Manual Handling 
  • Being able to support with general household duties to maintain a clean home environment
  • Assisting with meal preparation.

About you: 

You will be a passionate and positive team player who takes initiative when supporting our clients to take part in meaningful activities, social relationships and achieving their goals. 

You will also:

  • Have a certificate IV in Disability and /or equivalent relevant experience especially working with Behaviours of Concern
  • Have experience working with High Intensity Clients e.g. Behaviours of Concern and High Complex needs
  • Have experience with Mealtime management and Manual Handling
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including the confidence to liaise with your team, staff, client families and carers);
  • Be competent at using computer software packages incl. management systems (MS Office and SupportAbility etc);
  • Be experienced with client management, health and well-being reporting (maintaining client records, goals setting, incident reporting, managing medication administration)
  • Display a dynamic and flexible approach to tasks with a positive can-do attitude
  • Have a good understanding of Disability Services legislation and best practice (eg. person-centred active support)
  • Have the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Have a current First Aid certificate and full Australian driver’s licence
  • Have or be obtaining a cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check and the NDIS Worker Orientation Module and Working with Children Check
  • Be fully COVID-19 vaccinated.

All ongoing mandatory training will be provided.
