About the Role:

Bayside Care and Support's Social Support Program provides older residents the opportunity to socialise in a group environment at our social support centre as well as through community based activities and outings. An exciting opportunity exists as we expand our service. We are seeking a caring and empathetic activities assistant to assist with practical support in our centre and community-based socialisation activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting program staff to deliver a range of stimulating and interactive centre and community based social and leisure activity programs.
  • Assisting with the serving of meals and maintaining the cleanliness of the centre.
  • Contributing to the efficient running of the Social Support Program through effective teamwork and utilising a solution focused approach.
  • Working in compliance with Council and Bayside Care and Support policies and procedures.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • An understanding of the needs and issues affecting older people and their carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and empathise with older people and their carers.
  • Excellent ability to prioritise tasks and ability to adapt to change within the day as required.
  • Ability to follow legislative requirements and guidelines in relation to the range and nature of duties to be undertaken.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families and staff.
  • Current Victorian drivers' licence. 

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check 
  • Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check
