Seeking Volunteer Drivers – Help People Get to Critical Healthcare Appointments and Stay Socially Connected.

Do you have a few hours to spare and a desire to help others in your community? Many people in Canberra struggle to access medical appointments, including dialysis and cancer treatments. By becoming a volunteer driver with Capital Region Community Services (CRCS), you’ll help people from different walks of life to get to vital healthcare appointments, social outings and activities that combat isolation.

If you’re friendly, reliable, and enjoy meeting new people, this is a rewarding way to give back!

Why Volunteer with CRCS?

  • Training provided – including First Aid and induction with our Community Transport Drivers.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Safely transport CRCS participants to medical and social appointments.
  • Provide a friendly and welcoming experience, engaging in respectful conversations.
  • Assist with mobility if required (such as helping people in and out of your car).
  • Follow safety procedures and notify CRCS Transport Coordination Team of any changes or concerns.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Friendly and caring individuals with great communication skills.
  • A safe driving record and understanding of road safety rules.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, privacy and respect for passengers.
  • Punctuality and reliability – a must for getting people to appointments on time!

What You’ll Need:

  • A current driver’s license and access to a registered, roadworthy, and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration (or willingness to obtain).
  • Volunteers are required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing.
