Position Objectives

The Director of Development is an integral member of the Executive Team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Director is responsible for driving the strategic growth and operational enhancement of the Plus Property Development Team through opportunity identification, property development, acquisition, and stock transfers that increases the property portfolio and meets the needs of Regional Australians.

This role will oversee the delivery of Plus Property projects through all stages of property development including acquisition, detailed design, procurement and contract, construction and post completion.

The Director of Development will ensure the success of Plus Property by contributing to the development and delivery of the strategic direction of the company and through responsibility for the identification of new business including new constructions, capital works projects and management transfers.

The ideal Candidate:

  • Executive level experience in business development, construction and/or project management
  • Experience working with boards and an understanding of reporting requirements
  • Experience working with budgets including a strong understanding of standard financial documents and ability to interpret
  • Proven ability in preparing and securing submissions for capital grants and funding
  • Understanding of the needs/nuances of regional and rural communities
  • Experience in the community housing, services or government sector will be highly regarded
  • Well-developed leadership skills and ability to manage, lead and train a diverse team across the state
  • The Director will ideally be based in Orange, Dubbo, Bathurst or New England region. We are open to exploring candidates based in Sydney and Canberra
  • Regional travel will be required as part of the role

Selection criteria:

  • Empathy and sensitivity in working with a diverse group of employees and customers
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying key stakeholders and establishing effective relationships in line with the organisation's strategic and operational goals
  • Sense of urgency and an ability to work under pressure
  • High degree of personal impact, negotiating skills and ability to achieve co-operation; and
  • Current Driver’s Licence and happy to travel regionally at least once a month

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
