Australia for UNHCR (A4U) is the UN Refugee Agency’s national partner in Australia, raising awareness and funds to support UNHCR’s global emergency response to humanitarian crises.
Established in 2000, A4U has raised an incredible $400m+ from individual donors, philanthropists, and corporates, leading to direct impact on the ground delivering emergency support such as shelter, protection, clean water, food and medicine. They directly fund international projects that support longer-term care such as building schools, running livelihood programs and providing healthcare.
The Philanthropy Manager is a portfolio-focused role with no direct reports. You will report to the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships and collaborate with the wider Philanthropy Team of 12.
The role of Philanthropy Manager will work closely with Executives, Board members and senior fundraising colleagues on a local and global level to develop and lift the value of existing relationships as well as working with the Prospect Researcher and wider team to identify new prospects. The role will lean more toward new relationship development initially.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to identify, cultivate, and solicit six to seven-figure gifts. This is where your experience and knowledge will shine.
The Board and Executive team believe in the opportunity presented by the creation of this new role, as a traditionally NSW-heavy portfolio it offers the opportunity to foster growth on a national level.
You will join an organisation that is part of a global network, offering the opportunity to learn from and share innovations and best practices with peers internationally.
A4U offers a diverse, multicultural environment, the Philanthropy Team specifically is made up of high-achieving, talented fundraisers who are supportive and caring.
A4U offers hybrid working from the Sydney CBD office, they are also open to considering candidates from other states if all criteria are met and previous success working fully remotely can be demonstrated. Ideally, this role will be full-time, however, they can consider part-time (0.8 or 0.9).
It’s an exciting time to join this high-performing team, there are some exciting projects and growth planned for the Philanthropy and Partnerships program.
