Are you an experienced operations leader passionate about environmental and social sustainability and community-driven initiatives? Landcare NT is seeking a dynamic Operations Manager to lead our growing team and drive impactful projects that strengthen conservation efforts across the Northern Territory (NT).
About Us
Landcare NT is the peak body supporting the community Landcare movement in the NT. We work with 25 Landcare groups and over 870 volunteers, community and stakeholders, to protect and restore natural landscapes. Our mission is to empower communities to care for local lands and waters, ensuring a sustainable future. As part of the National Landcare Network, we advocate at local, Territory, and national levels to strengthen community Landcare.

About the Role
This is a newly created leadership position, reflecting Landcare NT’s growth in staffing and project scope. As Operations Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our operational activities, program delivery, and stakeholder engagement. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading day-to-day operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Managing a multidisciplinary team of conservation, community development, education and communication professionals.
- Strengthening First Nations partnerships in project design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Overseeing funding agreements, compliance, and reporting.
- Co-designing new, innovative initiatives with our team, communities and stakeholders.
- Advocating for Landcare NT, and fostering strategic partnerships
- Contributing to organisational growth and financial sustainability, including funding acquisition.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Leadership & People Management – Experience managing diverse teams, mentoring staff, and fostering a positive team culture.
- Program & Project Management – Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate programs within environmental, social, or community, sectors.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Strong networking skills to build and maintain partnerships across government, industry, and community groups.
- Strategic & Financial Acumen – Ability to manage budgets, secure funding, and drive organisational success.
- Excellent Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and funding proposals.
- Cultural Competency – Understanding of cross-cultural collaboration and a commitment to embedding First Nations knowledge.
Bonus Skills (Highly Regarded, but Not Essential)
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector or with volunteer groups.
- Knowledge of Landcare principles and the NT’s environmental sector.
- Familiarity with government funding processes and grant applications.
