To inspire political leadership and accelerate policy change, we publish research on technological solutions that unlock huge economic potential for industries, regions and communities. Our expert research is the springboard from which we showcase and facilitate lighthouse projects, which spurs policymakers to scale and replicate successful models.

About you

You’re a fundraising or philanthropy professional with five or more years’ experience in a similar role. You’ll play a crucial role in driving growth and securing funding to support our initiatives.

Working closely with the CEO and Head of Communications, you will manage and build a portfolio of multi-year, high value partners. You’ll manage existing donor and grant relationships, and establish new relationships with individual donors and grant programs through new business development activity and by developing existing leads. You will create added value through establishing a bequest program and growing our core regular donors.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in donor management, including individual high net worth donations of $50K and over. You will be results driven and hands on. This role is an opportunity to showcase your leadership skills and work to support climate solutions. It will require occasional interstate travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an ambitious 5-year fundraising strategy and targets, with the opportunity to pilot new conversion channels including a bequest program
  • Develop relationships with new and existing philanthropic funders and grant-making organisations
  • Lead on fundraising events
  • Grow and develop our existing donor base through appeals and regular giving
  • Manage and provide strategic guidance on online fundraising campaigns and appeals
  • Prepare regular and timely financial and non-financial tracking and reporting

Key Selection Criteria

This role requires the following key skills and experience - please address each numbered criteria in your cover letter:

  1. Demonstrated experience managing major donor fundraising programs within the not-for-profit sector, including demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships and delivering outcomes with individual major donors (contributions greater than $50,000);
  2. Demonstrated experience in proposal development, grant writing, securing funding from foundations and completing acquittals;
  3. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills;
  4. Understanding of digital communication and marketing to support integrated fundraising campaigns;
  5. Strong understanding of CRM systems with ability to extract and use insights from data and marketing analytics;
  6. A track record of managing and growing a regular donor base, including commitment to best-practice donor management
  7. Demonstrated experience with designing and implementing a fundraising strategy, managing and delivering on income targets and budgets; and
  8. Commitment to Beyond Zero Emissions’ vision and purpose together with an understanding of, or interest in, climate science and Australia’s transition towards a low-carbon economy (desirable)
